This battery offers all the same features as the eGo C, plus one spiffy extra feature not normally found on an eGo style battery.

The eGo C-Upgrade hits all of the high points of the original eGo-C battery:

  • Color notification when the battery begins to lose charge
  • Improved short circuit, over discharge, and overcharge protection

And it also adds a new function mode – the voltage will change as the battery power changes when this 'upgrade' mode is selected.

This battery is available in these colors:

  • Black
  • Silver
  • Pink
  • White

Differences between constant and variable voltage mode

When this battery is in a constant voltage 'original' mode, it outputs a constant 3.6V. The power button light will change colors in this mode to indicate a low battery. The battery indicator light is white at full charge, and a very pleasant turquoise color when the battery is running a low charge.

When the battery is in the 'upgrade' mode, the power button will glow orange when you press it to vape. In this mode, the light's color does not change to show a low battery indication; it's always orange. Joyetech claims that the upgrade modes gives a better and more consistent vape quality. The battery puts out 4.15V at full charge in this mode, and decreases to 3.6V as charge decreases.

To switch from one mode to the other, simply turn the battery off by pressing the power off five times quickly. Then, press and hold the power button for ten seconds. The LED underneath the power button will change colors, and the battery will switch modes. The indicator will flash blue for original mode, or orange for new mode. Click the power button five times quickly to turn back on.

This is a great battery for people that don't needs all of the bells and whistles of a mod. It's extremely simple to use and a versitile battery when compared to the ego-C.

The switching between power modes is a great feature and allows more wiggle room when switching between atomizers with different OHM resistences. Sometimes having an iTaste MVP in your pocket leaves the VV + and - buttons being suseptable to anything that could bump and increase/decrease your output. This offers a consistent output without being changed by anything in your pocket. It is perfect for taking on the go without having a mod.

The battery life is great for these, although when running in the high power mode it will obviously decrease quickly.

For the price it is well worth the money and I would recommend these to people would like having options with VV, but aren't ready to jump in head first with mods.

This was my second battery after getting the eGo-C kit. It helped me ease into what in the world variable voltage meant. I also started using cartos at the time too, so being able to change the voltage on those created a better vape. The Upgrade is small, discreet and will give you a good amount of vaping time before charging. You do have to watch the pockets as with ANY eGo battery (even Joyetech ones) I lost a few by them coming apart in my pocket and the wires coming undone. I even had it come apart at the bottom. If you have the know how and skills and equipment you can solder them back together, but it is easier move on to a different battery. Unless you have a B&M that will fix it for you. I had a few fixed at my local store before I moved on to other batteries.

The Ego-C Upgrade is a great little battery. It's variable voltage, it is an extremely well build device, and it has a well thought out design to it. There's not much to say about it, besides what was covered in the particulars above.

If you're looking for an ego-style battery, drop a couple extra bucks on a name-brand Joyetech battery. It'll last at least 3x as long as a cheap knock-off. You'll appreciate it much more in the long run.
